Mail forwarding when moving
Forwarding your mail is a matter of course, since you obviously can't inform everyone right away that you have moved. However, there are certain things to keep in mind regarding the way you set up the forwarding. Forwarding at the counter costs quite a bit more (Fr. 47.00 - as of June 2026) than when you do it online (Fr. 35.00). Mail forwarding abroad is of course even more expensive (e.g. 12 months online Fr. 90.00, at the counter Fr. 102.00). In addition, any further adult and legal persons are charged extra.

Important: Something else worth mentioning in this context: set up your mail forwarding early. What is simply declared as an "express order" on the post.ch page mentioned above means nothing other than this: if you need your forwarding at short notice (possible until 11 p.m. the evening before), it costs another Fr. 10.00 more. Since you usually know your moving date well in advance, place the forwarding order at least four working days ahead so you can save that money.
In addition, these forwarding services only cover letters. If you would also like your parcels forwarded, this costs extra. Here is an overview of the most common forwarding options:
